What Is An Ebook?

Ebook stands for ‘Electronic Book’ and is a document usually in the Adobe PDF format (the standard), Mobi (Excellent for compatibility with portable devices) or sometimes even the basic Microsoft Word format. Leadership ebooks allow you to have great reading material wherever your computer, laptop, USB stick or portable ebook reading device goes!

How Do I Purchase A Leadership Ebook?

There are two types of websites you could visit to buy leadership ebooks on.

1. Ebook ‘Supermarkets’. These websites usually place highly on search engine results, and sell a wide range of leadership ebooks from multiple authors. Upon each sale they pay a fixed royalty to the author (usually in the region of 50%).

2. Individual author sites. Small sales sites usually target one leadership ebook and generate traffic through adverts. As it is often the author themselves who run the site, they often price the leadership ebook at a competitive rate to try and attract as many sellers as possible.

Purchasing a leadership ebook is a relatively simple process for either type of website if you have a paypal account or a widely-accepted debit or credit card such as Visa or Mastercard.

Websites that sell leadership ebooks don’t usually process transactions themselves, they ‘outsource’ this activity to the 3rd party merchants such as 2Checkout, ClickBank or the pre-eminent PayPal. Whereas PayPal only process payments, 2Checkout and ClickBank usually control the ‘distribution’ of the ebook (i.e. the download) too. This means that purchasing a leadership ebook is often as simple as clicking on ‘buy’, being transferred to a merchant/payment processing website, entering personal details, and then downloading the leadership ebook. The download link given to customer normally allows multiple downloads to ensure that a faulty connection doesn’t prevent the eventual transfer of the ebook to the customer.

Is It Safe To Buy A Leadership Ebook Online? Are Those Sites Secure?

Due to the outsourcing of payments to extremely reputable 3rd party vendors, the purchasing of leadership ebooks is extremely safe. Services like 2Checkout use SSL Encryption on their website which blocks malicious 3rd parties gaining access to your card details as you submit them. As a result of this, with regardless to online security, you’re as safe with these vendors, and by extension buying the leadership ebook from a small website, as you are with a retailer such as Amazon.

Here are a few tips to ensure that the 3rd party vendor you are forwarded to is reputable.

If the pagerank of the website is 6 or above, you know you’re safe. PageRank ‘can’ be manipulated, but it is extremely hard to force Google to award above PageRank 5. ClickBank is PageRank 6, 2Checkout is PageRank 7 and Paypal is Pagerank 8.

2. The Alexa Ranking Test.

Alexa is a web infomation company owned by Amazon.com which uses the visiting habits of 100,000+ of it’s toolbar users to rank every website on the internet by the amount of visitors they receive. By visiting Alexa and entering a websites homepage into the search bar at the top, you can see this ranking.

As a general rule, payment processing/merchant websites receive a large amount of traffic, and therefore you should gain assurance that the leadership book website you are entering your data into is trusted by millions of people worldwide if its Alexa Ranking is roughly in the top 20,000 of websites. Relatively unvisited websites have a ranking of 3-15 million, Leadership Expert has a ranking of 350,000 (and improving by the day!) and PayPal has a ranking of 262. ClickBank has a ranking of 1,041, and 2Checkout has a ranking of 11,722.
